Finding love in a crowded room
REVIEW - BUSTER SHUFFLE
Bullet Bar
GRAVEL-VOICED likely lad Jet Baker springs from his key-board, bopping in time to his lullabies of love. Discarding his chair, he throws out his song with pouting abandon.
It’s rare to find a band you love instantly. So I was completely unprepared to discover I loved the part-talking, rock’n’roll ska band Buster Shuffle headlining at the XFM Uploaded LIVE event at the Bullet Bar on March 27.
Baker’s light-hearted cheeky-chappy stories about going out, getting drunk and arguing with his girlfriend have a distinct blues influence and when they don’t make you laugh the lyrics are touching (check out I’m Into You).
The bands girlfriend’s are clearly not only the inspiration for many of the songs but apparently double up as cheerleaders and roadies as well.
Despite their carefree, good time charisma, Baker and his band mates – Dan Piper on guitar, Tezza Mascalli on drums and Popey Doyle strumming the double bass – are clearly also skilled musicians and songwriters.
With plenty of upcoming gigs in London there’s no reason to miss out.
