ART BRUT
Luminaire
IT may be true that bands have a “success deadline” – if they haven’t made it within five years they never will.
But that is not the case with Art Brut, the Bournemouth indie-rocksters who started out in May 2003 and perform at the Luminaire next Thursday.
They’ve had limited commercial success but critical acclaim. It would be unfair to say they haven’t delivered on their promises, but is there a reason you haven’t really heard of them?
The Guardian picked out a track from their most recent offering, It’s A Bit Complicated, as single of the week, even if the swaggering masses turned indifferently away. So perhaps they deserve a chance. Their most recent album was produced by Dan Swift, the man behind some of Snowpatrol and Kasabian’s biggest hits.
But if that’s not enough to tempt you, bear in mind that the gig is hosted by Jack Daniel’s – the finest purveyors of musical taste in a bottle. Not only do they pick the best, but they’ll also give you a free drink and a JD T-shirt.
• Art Brut play Luminaire, Kilburn, on Thursday March 13
