Grooves
I GUESS you can’t have everything: I looked up celebrity Spurs fans and all I could find was a banged up DJ (Grooverider) and Rachel Stevens.
Granted, the West Hampstead girl would decorate the terrace but I’m not sure she’d sing one of our many anthems in tune. But, as I say, you can’t have everything (including a ticket to Wembley).
Anyway, I’ll get back to the issue at hand: while one era is at hand – yes, the Ramos era – another draws to a close. It’ll be the final weekend of mayhem at legendary Islington club Turnmills next month.
The house of fun for ravers will be no more as of March 23, and like the Cross before it, which went on New Year’s Eve, there is nothing to replace it. North London’s clubbing scene will never be the same again.
Everyone has a story about Turnmills. There was the time I got chatted up in the toilets by someone who looked like Tamzin Outhwaite, and... well, I wish I could tell you about another occasion but that wouldn’t be in keeping with a night out at Turnmills. (What happens in Turnmills stays in Turnmills etc.)
Anyway... it’s another example of developers getting their sticky paws on what has always been a playground for adults for decades.
We don’t want any more coffee shops and boutiques selling overpriced baby clothes! I want somewhere hot and sweaty where you can dance all night and fall into bed after catching the first tube home. That’s what I want.
