The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS Published: 20 Decemebr 2007
YES, it’s that time of year again when all bands go into hibernation, unless you’re Ocean Colour Scene, and you need the money.
Actually, I quite like them.
Either way, the only thing you’ll be hearing for the rest of the week is Jingle Bells and Five Go-o-old Rings...
However, there is one thing worth saving your pennies for and that’s The London Community Gospel Choir, who are doing their usual stint at the Jazz Café on Friday, December 21.
Giving a different slant to the whole festive thing, they pile on the soul and leave out the sentimentality.
The choir is made up of 30 singers who have performed with Blur, Nick Cave and even sung with Madonna on the stage at Live 8, so they come with an impeccable CV.
Whatever you do at Christmas, have a merry one and stay away from that third mince pie.
