The Review - AT THE MOVIES with WILLIAM HALL Published: 6 December 2007

IT is the movie event of the year: the Everyman cinema is screening the James Stewart film It’s A Wonderful Life on December 23 – all in aid of the New Journal’s Christmas hamper fund. The generous owners of Hampstead’s independent cinema have decreed that the tickets sales will go towards our seasonal charity drive fund – and so a big thanks is due to them.
You get the chance to see the film that makes Christmas, with a glass of wine and some mince pies thrown in. To top it off, we’re in the process of badgering a well-known face of the silver screen to introduce the film: they have yet to confirm their immense presence and therefore shall remain nameless! They will be introduced by our very own film critic, William Hall.
Tickets are on sale now. Could there be a better way to celebrate than by watching a film that will remind you of what Christmas is all about, and fill our hamper fund coffers at the same time?
If you plan to do some Christmas shopping that day, then you can kill two birds with one stone: our chums at the Holly Bush Vale picture house have announced a new gift idea – buy your friends and family an Everyman goodie box, which includes £30 gift vouchers and nine different boxes of Everyman nibbles, which are a significant step up from your usual popcorn fare.
