It’s Lauderdale House of love
PREVIEW: L'ELISIR D'AMORE
Lauderdale House
LOVE is in the air up at Lauderdale House this Friday, with Oyster Opera’s one-off performance of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love). The company, formed four years ago by Fiona Oliver-Smith, normally performs at exclusive private parties and charity fundraisers in stately homes and castles around the country.
But thanks to an unforeseen cancellation, Oyster Opera have relocated the performance to Lauderdale House, giving the public a rare opportunity to see this professional company in action. “Three of our singers were flying in for the performance and rehearsal week, so we spoke to Lauderdale House and came to this arrangement,” explained Fiona. “Lauderdale House is the perfect setting for the intimate type of performance we are used to.”
Sung here in Italian, Donizetti’s comedy will be performed in period costume that the company bought from the English National Opera.
So, if you haven’t managed to get your hands on tickets for the Royal Opera House’s performances of L’elisir d’Amore this week, why not go along to Lauderdale House and see this delightful work performed in a cosy environment.
There are just 95 tickets available, so booking in advance is advised.
* l’Elisir d’Amore is at Lauderdale House, Highgate Hill, N6, tomorrow (Friday) at 8pm. Tickets cost £20 and are available on
07770 631 431.
