PREVIEW: VILLAGE OPERA
The Village School
VILLAGE Opera, a new amateur company formed with the aim of bringing the fun of opera to the young and not-so-young, will give their first performances in the purpose-built theatre at The Village School, in Belsize Park, this week. The classic fairy tale of Hänsel and Gretel will come alive to the music of Engelbert Humperdinck, with the children of The Village School playing a prominent part in the cast. While major roles will be played by professional or semi-professional singers, Village Opera is also an opportunity for anyone to discover the joy of singing. The company is asking people to become members to sing chorus and small solo roles for future productions.
* Village Opera is at The Village School, Belsize Park, on Thursday and Saturday at 7.30pm. Sunday matinée at 3pm. Tickets cost £12 (£8 concs). 020 8863 7741
