SEX and the cinema is the topic of a new season at the Barbican in October.
The week long event, starting on October 19, includes screenings of continental classics La Bete and La Derniere Femme as well as Stanley Kubrick’s controversial Lolita and the weird David Lynch flick Crash.
Alongside the films, censorship is under the microscope in a discussion chaired by Belsize Park-based barrister Baroness Helena Kennedy and the writer Sir John Mortimer.
Meanwhile, The Bourne Trilogy won many friends as a sign that action adventure films made in the States could have big budgets and flashy stunts without sacrificing basic acting skills and plots.
And although this offer may need to be accompanied by a few gallons of coffee, the British Film Institute’s
I-Max cinema is showing all three of the Matt Damon movies back to back through the night. Taking place on October 20, the shows start at 11pm and finish at 8am.
MEANWHILE, the Raindance festival runs until October 7 at Cineworlds in Haymarket and Shaftesbury Avenue and at the Rex Cinema in Rupert Street.
