Demo of the Week
GIRLS THAT SCRATCH

CHRIS Purvis, lead singer of the rocking trio Girls That Scratch, told me the band’s name was only supposed to be temporary, but in true rock ‘n roll fashion they couldn’t agree on anything else, so the name – a reference to DJs scratching records you buffoons, not girls with fleas – stuck.
Don’t be terrified by the ‘post-punk’ and ‘new-wave rock and roll’ tags either, it’s a load of balls.
GTS have already released one demo – demo 1, (genius) – while their second – demo 2, (durr) – featuring Lights, Camera, Action, Strip and Enjoyment, rattle against the ears.
These three lads have been compared with the artiest miserable band in the world, Joy Division, and the chirpier Franz Ferdinand..

• If you want your demo reviewed, please send it in to Grooves, 40 Camden Road, London NW1 9DR.
