THE Channel 4 drama-documentary Sex Traffic uncovers a murky, billion-dollar world of kidnapping young women and selling them into slavery through Europe.
Starring John Simms, of Life On Mars fame, it draws on research and real life stories writer Abi Morgan uncovered.
The plot follows two sisters Elena (Anamaria Marinca) and Vara (Wendy Crewson), who are tricked into leaving their home in Moldova after being promised work in London. But the pair have unwittingly joined a sex trafficking ring.
In steps Daniel Appleton (Simms), working for a London based charity investigating the plight of girls used as prostitutes. He finds out that the trade involves private defence contractors working in Eastern Europe – and begins to unravel a very unsavoury corruption scandal.
