The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS
Published: 13 September 2007

THE campaign to get Madness a Brit Lifetime Achievement Award is growing.
None other than Suggs himself, legendary Madness frontman, has added his voice to the cause.
“Absolutely tremendous” was his verdict on the idea.
But he wasn’t keen on any funny business, insisting the Baggy Trousered band should only be given an award if it was all done above board.
“Only if it was fairly apportioned” would he accept it.
“I wouldn’t accept any backhanders.” But he did let slip that the website was his doing. And the ‘campaigners’? His kids. No, he was only kidding about that.
If you want to add your voice to the campaign, email me at grooves@camdennewjournal.co.uk and explain why you think they deserve the award. Also leave your name, age, and telephone number.
Alternatively sign up to www.madnessbritaward.co.uk to show your support for the ska boys.
Suggs’s final word on the matter? “Front page: Suggs desperate for a Brit!”
If you think Madness should get a Brit, visit www.madnessbritaward.co.uk.
