UPON entering the Bloomsbury Theatre, John-Paul Zaccarini goes almost unnoticed, as he quietly kneads a lump of dough in a satin blue kimono.
He sprinkles flour on his baking like a good 1950s housewife. It’s only when the doors shut and lights dim that he begins to elaborate his actions, sculpting and caressing a dough baby, giving props to a dough phallus, and eventually bursting into a medley of film scenes with a magnificent collection of accents.
Throat is not so much a play as it is a highly entertaining melange of circus, dance and cabaret performance. Throat is sexy big-top fun for grown ups.
Created by Company FZ, which was formed by Zaccarini and director Flick Ferdinando in 1998, Throat is in constant development and has toured internationally.
