John Pilger Film Festival
CAMPAIGNING journalist John Pilger will personally introduce a number of his renowned documentaries as part of a new film festival at Barbican Film starting next week.
The series runs from September 14 and includes his first documentary, The Quiet Mutiny, a film made in 1970 which caused uproar when it broke the story of rebellion in the American army in Vietnam.
The John Pilger Film Festival features 16 documentaries spanning the past 36 years.
His most best-known work, from Cambodia, Nicaragua and Burma, is also being shown.
In Inside Burma: Land of Fear, Pilger goes undercover in one of the world’s most isolated countries.
And in Breaking the Mirror – The Murdoch effect, he looks at what happened to the newspaper industry when the Sun moved to Wapping and new technology.
