PREVIEW - ANTHONY MARWOOD
Wigmore Hall
WHILE Matthais Goerne launches the Wigmore Hall’s Festival of Song season on Friday, it is important to remember the other music the ensemble music hall is hosting this autumn season.
First up is the appearance of violinist Anthony Marwood, accompanied by Thomas Ades, performing a selection of music by Stravinsky, using pieces originally composed as ballets for Diaghilev’s company, the Ballets Russes.
So we have three movements from the Firebird Suite, the Suite Italienne, taken from Pulcinella and Dance Russe from Petrushka and a couple of extracts from The Nightingale.
