Laureate set to get hands-on at puppet theatre
CHILDREN’S laureate Mike Rosen will give a special book signing at the opening of a marionette show at the home of British puppetry. The poet and author of dozens of children’s favourites said his show Give Us A Hand! was written with the Little Angel Theatre in mind.
It opens on September 14 in the Islington playhouse in Dagmar Passage for a six-week run.
Mike said: “Seeing Give us a Hand! performed on the Little Angel stage is the perfect culmination of all the work and skill that’s gone into this production. The Little Angel Theatre is a magical place and this is a magical show, rooted in the history of the
theatre and the people that make it. Seeing the marionettes is such a rare treat, and writing this show has been a very enjoyable experience.”
The production – which has toured London delighting more than 7,000 children – features more than 40 puppets from some of the theatre’s favourite performances.
The Little Angel Theatre is the oldest purpose-built puppet theatre in London. The team there create six touring productions a year. Until October 28
