A CAMDEN Town film company is looking for investors to back its latest production.
Spanner Films, who produced the award-winning McLibel film about a gardener and postman who took on McDonald’s over leaflets claiming the company’s food was bad for you, is currently producing a story about global warming.
Spanner’s Lizzie Gillett said the company had already raised £250,000 and shot the film. Now they are in post-production and need around another £200,000 to finish.
They are screening footage from the film at a central London cinema this Saturday for potential investors.
They already have industry backing. Passion Pictures have come on board as partners.
Ms Gillett said: “We have decided to raise the cash ourselves. “The scheme works by people either making donations or investing in return for any future profits. Sums received so far range from £25 through £25,000. “We have had all sorts of people support us.”
The film started life as a documentary about the oil industry.
Ms Gillett added: “It is set in the runaway climate change world of 2055. “This fast, furious and very funny film follows two animated teenagers looking back at archive documentary footage from 2007, asking: why didn’t they stop climate change while they had the chance?” Dan Carrier
