Pick of the Indies
The Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square is offering the chance for fans of director Alfred Hitchcock to catch one of his greatest movies on the big screen on Saturday – and raise cash for conservation charity Friends of the Earth at the same time.
The Man Who Knew Too Much, starring James Stewart and Doris Day, (pictured above) is classic Hitchcock.
Based on the 1934 novel by Wyndham Lewis, the stylish thriller features Stewart in one of his most beguiling roles.
As Dr Ben McKenna, we meet Stewart travelling through North Africa with his wife Jo and son Hank. But trouble is not far away: they befriend the mysterious Louis Bernard - but Bernard is murdered in a souk the day after meeting them.
Before his death, he tells the couple details of plans for an assassination in London.
But the holidaymakers face a terrible dilemma: the would-be killers have kidnapped little Hank to ensure the couple keep silent.
But the pair fight back – heading to London to foil the dastardly plan…
• Prince of Wales box office 08708 1125559. Tickets cost £3/£4, wit all profits going to Friends of the Earth. The show starts at 1pm, Saturday September 2. |
