HOW, you may ask, can the family classic The Railway Children be retold using only one child actor? The story of a group of children and their parents who must readjust themselves to a life of poverty gets a clever rewrite for the King’s Head’s children show matinees, starting in September.
Join Roberta, Mother and Mr Perks from September 11-30.
ONE of the oldest and most beautiful theatres in London, the Hackney Empire, is looking into its past to find out its story so far. The Edwardian-built variety house has had stints as a TV studio and a bingo hall, and survived bombing throughout the Second World War, is now having a book written about it.
Anyone with stories or memories of the playhouse is asked to contact Andrew Rye on 07972 825 129 or via email to historybook@hackneyempire.co.uk.
THIS week’s lucky competition winners are Adrian Brodkin, Siri Hansen, Sandra Singer and Janie Saunders. They each win a pair of tickets to see the National Youth Music Theatre’s latest, the Neil Simon-penned musical romp Little Me, at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
