Blunt is back: but is his latest offering Beautiful?
JAMES BLUNT Koko
by Lucy Phung
JAMES Blunt – that oft mocked slush merchant – will perform his only headline UK performance on Wednesday when he takes to the stage at Koko. The Wiltshire-born singer/songwriter will be entertaining the crowd with tracks from his new album, as well as celebrating the release of his new single 1973 – said to be inspired by a night out in Ibiza –
due out on September 3.
Although some
people say they have been glad to see the back of Blunt, his fans have been eagerly anticipating his return to Britain.
Let’s just remind ourselves how he got here: after his third single Beautiful stayed at the number one spot for six weeks, his debut album Back To Bedlam followed.
It took a while to climb the charts but eventually peaked in July 2005 and went on to become the best-selling album of that year.
His mix of acoustic-tinged rock and alternative is set to feature in his up and coming second album All The Lost Souls, out on September 17.
