• FAIRYTALES come to life in The Fish is Open, at Theatro Technis this weekend.
Inspired by the Hans Christian Anderson tale The Tin Soldier, the play follows a wounded soldier exiled from his home and embarking on a fantastical journey where birds recite poetry and rats run border control. Performances are only on August 25 – 26, at 8pm.
• THE world’s first carbon-neutral theatre is set to be none other than the innovative Arcola in Hackney.
The theatre has announced plans to install a biomass heating system, solar panels and fuel cells. as well as an energy technology “incubator”.
According to a theatre spokesperson, the Arcola aims to “marry artistic, entrepreneurial and technological creativity under one roof, providing a hub for new thinking and opening the door to cross fertilisation between the arts and the sciences”.
