Mee-Shee prepares to host oil company executives
Canada’s Nessie set to be monster hit with the kids
MEE-SHEE: THE WATER GIANT
Directed by John Henderson
Certificate PG
THE youngsters filling the cinema at an early preview amid the popcorn were glued to their seats, so who am I to pass judgment on a monster movie that is obviously going to be a blast if you’re under 12. If you’re not, it’s a pleasant enough way of passing 95 minutes and keeping the children quiet.
Mee-Shee is a mythical creature that lives in a lake amid the mountains of Canada, and gets itself involved with an oil company seeking to salvage a valuable drill.
Recovery expert Sean (Bruce Greenwood), along with his son Mac (Daniel Magder), travels into the wilds to retrieve the precious drill from the bottom of the lake.
That’s when they run into Mee-Shee, a Loch Ness-type monster that looks like a deflated barrage balloon when it finally rears its huge head above the waves. Kids will love it. Adults may want to head for the nearest pub.
