Pam Ann has the flight of a lifetime

YOU know you’re in for an irreverent time with comedy air hostess Pam Ann when footage from air crash movie Alive is beamed on set before she has even sashayed her way on stage.
Moments after touchdown, her barbed wit and foul language has you laughing so hard you’re spilling your in-flight drink and wincing so much you’re glad you opted to sit in what Pam dubs ‘economy class’ – the back row.
If free air miles were handed out to audience members ridiculed by this hostess from hell on Tuesday night, a handful would be on their way to Australia today.
Not that they would mind; they were mostly cabin crew gleefully lapping up the withering skits of their own industry as served up by comedienne Caroline Reid’s cruelly witty creation.
Economy airlines flogging crisps in tubs, horsey long-haul flight attendant ‘bitches’ – think of a fly-on-the-wall airport telly show voiced over by a rampaging Bill Hicks and you’re almost there.
Except Australian-born Reid was doing this well before the men in quilted bodywarmers hit our screens.
That said, Reid nods at the format when she sheds Pam’s Thunderbird-style outfit to become orange jacketed Donna, the Vicky Pollard of customer service managers.
Of Pam’s other ‘friends’ Chinese hostess Lily is clumsily characterised, but posh flight attendant Sarah is laugh out loud and Reid will always hit the tarmac running with trolley dolly Pam Ann.
