Spectacular spot of organ
PREVIEW - DAVID SANGER
Westminster Abbey
THERE can be few more spectacular spots to enjoy a concert than the splendid Westminster Abbey.
And for the last couple of months the Abbey has been hosting its annual organ festival and this Tuesday sees the final concert of the series with celebrated organist David Sanger performing.
Sanger has been one of the most in-demand organists in Britain since he studied at the Royal College of Music and won two international performance prizes, the St Albans in 1969 and Kiel in Germany in 1972.
He has been in demand across Europe and the United States and teaches organ at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
In this concert at the abbey, the programme includes Bach’s Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C, Mozart’s Fantasia in C, Vierne’s Scherzo and Final from Symphony VI and Sanger’s own composition Passcaglia.

In a separate organ concert, Laurence Caldecote is performing at St Pancras Parish Church on Thursday lunchtime.
