THE daredevil antics of the heroes of silent films are being celebrated through August and September in Silent Comedy a special festival at the National Film Theatre.
The likes of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd show the bets of early popular cinema.
The curators have also included some of the less known works by the likes of Harry Langdon, Raymond Griffith and Leslie Henson.
On Sunday, the 1927 French made comedy ‘The Italian Straw Hat’ features: it is widely credited to have been a starting point for many other French comedies.
Director Rene Clair takes the simple premise of the trouble the owner of a horse gets in to as it exercises its appetite for strangers straw hats.
