HACKSAW versions of Shakespeare are rife on the London stage, but Rebellious Subject’s latest production of Hamlet promises to keep the passion of the Bard’s epic alive, without reducing it to tomfoolery. A cast of seven has cut the four-hour tome down to a nifty one and a half for the show at Theatro Technis, running from August 14-19. Tickets can be booked on 020 7387 6617.
UNKNOWN classics continue to get a new lease of life at the King’s Head Theatre in Upper Street at the hands of the Primavera production company. This week it’s the turn of short comedies, including an offering by F. Scott Fitzgerald (Pink and Porcelian), the writer of The Great Gatsby.
The one-off performance is on August 12 (Sunday) at 8pm.
FOR just one week the Open Air Theatre moves indoors, with a run of rehearsed readings and short dramas. Julian Maclaren-Ross’s This Mortal Coil and A Bit of a Smash in the Madras kick off proceedings on Monday, August 13, followed by Cyrano Revisited, spritely thriller When To Run, and concluding with David Mamet’s endearing exposition on men and ducks, Duck Variations on Friday and Saturday.
