Quartet has a treat in store
PREVIEW - THE ALLEGRI STRING QUARTET
Hampstead Parish Court
MANY concert venues are enjoying the summer lull and have not yet released their autumn programmes.
But I discovered this week that Hampstead Parish Church has a treat in store when music returns in September and it is worth putting in the diary.
The Allegri String Quartet, which has been going, albeit with personnel changes, for more than 50 years, will be performing at the church on September 16, fresh from a summer stint at Dartington.
The quartet, which is made up of Daniel Rowland on first violin, Rafael Todes on second violin, Dorothea Vogel on viola and Pal Vanda on cello, first started performing in 1953, headed by the charismatic Eli Goren.
It has maintained a consistently high standard ever since in the beautiful Hampstead Parish Church.
The programme has yet to be announced but I will keep readers updated.
