• THE Principal Theatre lays down the gauntlet to the Open Air Theatre with rival open-air production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

• THE Roundhouse Studios stage a 16-hour Dramathon with a day of improvised shows and workshops.
Anyone aged between 13-25 is invited to discover how to turn their personal life experience into real drama and experiment with different theatre skills. The event runs from 8am to midnight on August 2.

• THE legendary samba singer Elza Soares, now in her 70s, grew up in the slums of Rio and had a very public affair with the Brazilian World Cup legend Garrincha.
Soares – who has performed at the Jazz Café in Camden – will perform her blend of Samba, bossa nova, funk, reggae and hip-hop at Sadler’s Wells until August 20.
