DVD of the week
German director Rainer Fassbinder made films which were considered leaders in the wave of New German Cinema at the end of the 1960s.
Now four of his most celebrated films are being released this week on DVD.
Fear Eats the Soul focuses on a friendship and love affair between an aging cleaner and a Moroccan mechanic, while the Merchant of Four seasons is about middle-class attitudes towards work.
The Marriage of Maria Braun is a romantic tragedy telling the story of a young German bride whose husband she believes was killed on the Russian front, while the Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant is about the relationship between a model and fashion designer.
