City Swimmers
THIS week marks the nationwide release on DVD of a film which chronicles the fight between swimmers on Hampstead Heath and those responsible for running the ponds, over plans to introduce charging.
Made by Ladies’ Pond regular Margaret Dickinson, City Swimmers celebrates not just the people who choose to swim every day in the ponds – it is unique study of what makes the Heath so beautiful.
As well as interviews with Heath regulars it also has captured the heated meetings between swimming campaigners and Heath guardians the then Corporation of London.
