PREVIEW: MARXISM 2007 Mean Fiddler
THERE is a fascinating concert at Mean Fiddler this week combining jazz, Middle Eastern singing and poetry. As part of the Marxism 2007 festival of resistance, saxophonists Soweto Kinch and Gilad Atzmon and Palestinian singer Nizar Al-Issa are all appearing at Cultures of Resistance on Monday.
Kinch will be performing from his latest album, A Life in the Day of B19: Tales of the Tower Block, while Israeli Atzmon will appear with Al-Issa.
And there will also be an appearance by the very melodic Jamaican dub poet Jean Binta Breeze.
