Bijou Phillips struggles to get to sleep in Hostel
Gore blimey! Do we need another stay? HOSTEL: PART II
Directed by Eli Roth

THE director of the first Hostel blood-bath is at it again, filling the screen with severed limbs, body parts and oceans of gore. Eli Roth takes us back to the same hostel in Slovakia where three back-packers were kidnapped and tortured by a secret sect supplying human fodder to wealthy perverts for kicks.
This time the hapless trio are American girls – Beth (Lauren German), Lorna (Heather Matarazzo) and Whitney (Bijou Phillips) touring eastern Europe.
The grim reapers organising the bizarre killing spree are taking bids to hunt down the potential victims. The winners include a pair of American businessmen trying out a holiday with a difference, macho Todd (Richard Burgi) and introvert Stuart (Roger Bart).
Let us not go into gory details.
Suffice to say that as the body count mounts with increasingly nauseating in-your-face images, the only question is: who gets slaughtered and who doesn’t? Not that we especially care for any of them – the director is more interested in shock treatment than character depth.
It is blatantly apparent that Roth’s latest offering on the altar of gratuitous sadism is merely an attempt to push the boundaries of what a movie can show.
I can only surmise it must be the product of a sick mind feeding equally warped appetites. In short, forget it.
