Lynda backs a dream comedy
LYNDA Bellingham dropped into Coram’s Fields to show her support for a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Ms Bellingham – best known for her Oxo television adverts and playing James Herriot’s wife in the television drama All Creatures Great and Small – is a patron of the Enfield-based Principal Theatre Company who will perform an open-air production of Shakespeare’s magical comedy in the park.
Ms Bellingham, who lives in Crouch End and will perform at the Royal Court in August, said her acting career began when she played the part of Puck in Dream as a young girl in Tring.
She said: “I played Puck for the Pendley Manor Shakespeare Company. It was set in a great big sloping field a bit like Coram’s Field. I remember running around a lot and the reviewer wrote: “If Lynda doesn’t make it as an actress she will win the 100 metres.”
She added: “It is important to make Shakespeare watchable – especially for young minds that haven’t encountered it before.”
A Midsummer Night’s Dream will run for three weekends in Coram’s Fields from August 3. Box Office: 020 8807 6680 |
