I’ve been to 10 Foo Fighters gigs but their show at the Underworld in Camden Town on Friday was their best yet.
Halfway through the set – which featured favourites Monkeywrench and All My Life – frontman Dave Grohl (formerly of Nirvana) told the sweating fans they had booked the Underworld after a lacklustre performance at the Isle of Wight festival last week.
This may have just been a practice show but it’ll be the one many fans remember for the rest of their lives: it’s easy for arena rock bands to sleepwalk through greatest hits sets – and the Foo’s usually do – but the small venue brought them to life on this night.
It packed a punch that is unlikely to be seen in an arena anytime soon.
