Real feast of great music ahead as London Singers play Banqueting House
PREVIEW: THE NEW LONDON SINGERS Banqueting House
WHILE the massive £36 million refurbishment of St Martin-in-the-Fields continues afoot, the music which is such a major part of the offering at the church has been touring other venues in London. This week the New London Singers, conducted by Ivor Setterfield, are appearing in the Inigo Jones’s wonderful Banqueting House to perform There is Sweet Music, a programme of songs for a summer evening.
It features a range of songs by British composers including Parry’s My Soul There is a Country, John Ireland’s The Hills, Stanford’s The Blue Bird and Vaughan Williams’ Silver Swan.
The concert provides a terrific opportunity to watch excellent music in this fantastic building.
Your Comments:
What a pity that you featured this concert, quite rightly, but you didn't feature a concert by the same choir conducted by Ivor Setterfield at All Hallows, Savernake Road, the day after - much more local.
