The Review - MUSIC - grooves with CHARLOTTE CHAMBERS Published: 21 June 2007
IT’S the kind of night that would take anyone back to their childhood, and that’s probably the secret behind the success of the Roller Disco in King’s Cross. If you ask them nicely they might even give you the sparkly boots, but make sure you turn up in Fame regalia to do your rounds on the disco rink. And don’t go overboard at the bar – you’ll have bruises to show for it.
Only word of warning is the queues. Victim of its own success? One queue to get in and get boots and another to give them back is the answer folks.
Meanwhile, another success story is the Islington band Shuffle, who are not only a mainstay of the music promotion team Bugbear – the string-pullers behind the legendary Dublin Castle pub in Parkway – but they have now been booked to play Glastonbury.
If you want a reason to go see them, have a listen at www.myspace.com/shuffleshuffle.
