Francois Cluzet on a breathless chase
Chase for the truth in a runaway thriller
TELL NO ONE
Directed by Guillaume Canet
Certificate 15
THIS slick thriller shot to number-one in France, and you can see why. Relentless suspense and a multi-layered Hitchcock-like plot add up to an edge-of-the-seat drama that will keep you glued to the screen from first reel to last.
We start with a lakeside murder. When newly-married doctor (Francois Cluzet) and his young wife (Marie-Josee Croze) spend a romantic night in the woods outside Paris, the girl takes a nude swim to the far bank – only to disappear without trace, despite a frantic search by her husband.
That’s when the waters turn murky. Her mutilated body is discovered the next day and the doctor becomes the prime suspect.
Fast forward eight years. Out of the blue he is sent an anonymous e-mail showing his wife still apparently alive holding the message ‘Tell No One’ in a crowded street.
How? Why? The mystery deepens as he sets out to track down the truth.
Hounded by police and sinister agents, the high spot is a breathless chase through the streets of Paris that outdoes The French Connection as a fugitive dodges speeding traffic on the motorway and leaves a massive pile-up in his wake.
Here’s a fast-paced thriller that never lets up. Tell everyone!
