THE world of James Boswell comes to life next week as a series of the Hampstead-based artist’s work features in a new
exhibition. Boswell, who died in 1971, made his name during the Second World War when he was stationed in Iraq for a year. Later, exhausted by the fight and inspired, he turned to more traditional figurative art.
Among the pieces on display are two landscapes he produced of the Highgate ponds, and a series of works featuring Brighton and Shoreham beaches, painted during the 1950s.
The exhibition, at the Chambers Gallery in Long Lane, Spitalfields, also features Scottish artist James Leggatt and Terry Setch.
