Child’s play
MY CHILD
Royal Court
WE were in an enlarged Tube carriage. The action took place in the central aisle. The play is about a father struggling to maintain contact with his son, in the process goodness and poverty are pitted against bullying and financial success.
The dialogue is brilliantly observed and often funny, and the child (Adam Arnold) is very convincing, as he shuttles between the adults in his life.
However, the play’s 40 minutes felt too short to get involved, with the piece failing to pack an emotional punch. Ended June 2
