The Krak are just mighty
THE KRAK
Rooz Studios
by Mathew Finnegan
THE Krak lived up to their reputation as one of London’s most exciting new bands at the Rooz Studios last Saturday.
The four Londoners, who have recently played guerrilla gigs at Camden’s trendy clothes shop Rokit and London Zoo (make that ‘gorilla’ gig), unleashed their riotous set in the sweat drenched rooms of the Old Street studio.
The raw vocals of Tom Lattimer and ex-Suffrajet Claire Wakeman, along with Ben ‘Jamin’ Sheldrick thundering basslines, immediately dismiss any notions of ‘Babyshambles-ness’ that might be expected with ex-member Gemma Clarke on drums.
Formed just seven months ago, The Krak are an energetic and powerful four-piece, but they also have the tunefulness that have made them such a hot prospect.
And with Ben’s claims that “this year is gonna be big for us”, the evidence of this gig makes it very hard to disagree.
Check them out at The Macbeth on May 18 while they are still playing these smaller venues.
