The Review - AT THE MOVIES with WILLIAM HALL Published: 26 April 2007
Pick of the Indies THE great thing about living in a city is that you’re never short of a film festival or two. I’ve counted 13 festivals around town this week, from ‘Films inspired by Shakespeare’ to the rather ponderously titled Berlin School in Recent German Cinema.
Ones to look out for:
The London Palestine Film Festival is at the Barbican until May 3. This is the largest festival of its kind in Europe and includes documentaries, shorts and a panel discussion on political film-making.
The Curzon Mayfair hosts the fouth Romanian film festival from tomorrow (Friday) with plenty of chance s to quiz actors, directors and producers about their work.
The 13th Spanish and Latin American film fest is on tour at a number of cinemas including the Curzon Mayfair, and the Terence Davies season, continuing at the BFI Southbank until Monday.
Finally, well done to the Everyman Hampstead for its inspired season on the Golden Age of British Studios. This Sunday, it’s the wonderful Powell/Pressburger classic A Matter of Life and Death. You’re unlikely to see it on the box anytime soon so grab the opportunity to see it.
