The hills still have eyes
THE HILLS HAVE EYES 2
Directed by Martin Weisz
Certificate 18
IS it really 30 years since Wes Craven’s first “Hills” wrote itself into horror-fest folk lore? That was back in 1977, and nothing much has changed in his latest foray (as writer and producer with his son Jonathan) to shake scabrous hands again with those mutant cannibals in the desert.
This time we’re with a group of greenhorn National Guardsmen who stray into the New Mexico wilderness, where atomic experiments have created a tribe who live in underground caves and like their tourists medium-rare.
Problem: it’s the same old predictable mixture as before, as the unit under their tough sergeant (Flex Alexander) are pounced on one by one and disappear, shrieking, into the ground.
Who lives? Who dies? Who cares?
This is one slice of horror hokum fast-tracking for the DVD shelves that will either delight or disgust you.
Depending on your appetite, of course. |
