A History of Violence
Mild-mannered diner owner Tom (Viggo Mortensen) is threatened
one night by a couple of criminals. He is pushed to the point
where he dispenses with their lives rather too easily, bringing
questions about his real identity to his community, his family
and ultimately to himself.
William Hurt was rightfully Oscar-nominated for his amazingly
funny role as a person in Toms past (saying more would
give the game away), making this offering from David Cronenberg
a surprisingly wonderful thriller sandwich indeed, with lots
of spice and flavour and more than enough
filling.
