NOT content with winning Time Out magazine’s adulation and the accolade of Venue of the Year in 2006, the Luminaire in Kilburn has now been told its the best venue in the country by the biggest movers and shakers in the biz.
Last Thursday, at a glitzy affair in Mayfair, the Luminaire pipped the others, including Wembley Arena and Kentish Town’s Forum, to romp home with Venue of the Year – as voted for by their peers.
Having met the guy that runs the place a couple of weeks ago, the title couldn’t go to a more deserving home.
In other news, I try to like her, but Macy Gray just irritates me. Either way, she’s a star, and she’s at Koko in a few weeks. Book your ticket now if you’re a fan.
Meanwhile, one of our very own, Robert Bowers from Yardley Street in Islington, is on his way to a national competition final, the Southcoast Idol.
Bowers, who sounds a little like Richard Ashcroft of The Verve fame, was whittled down to a group of 10 from 10,000 by judges.
Lee from defunct pop band Steps – Tragedy! – will be on the panel at the Croydon showdown on April 10.
