Jazz great talks about his career
PREVIEW: GRAHAM COLLIER
Ray’s Jazz
MENTIONED in the same breath as Gil Evans and Charles Mingus, Graham Collier is one of jazz’s great composers.
Collier began playing trumpet while growing up in the north of England and graduated to playing bass with Jimmy Dorsey’s Orchestra.
But for much of his career he has been band leader of the Graham Collier Ensemble.
And at Ray’s Jazz in Foyles bookshop, Charing Cross Road, on Tuesday Collier will talk about his career, influences and ethos.
As ever for Ray’s, it is a free event but make sure you arrive early to guarantee space.
The talk begins at 6pm. |
