Lord of War
Nicolas Cage plays a gun-runner who constantly questions
his own ethics in this deftly made preachy drama by writer and
director Andrew Niccol.
This film is a beauty, belting along with smart dialogue and
perpetually treating viewers to visual sensations as Cage makes
his way through the morass of gun-running, with its dangerous
characters and shady dealings.
Cages character is a likeable amoral guy who seems to
be more of a pathological liver than liar. Set in the days of
the Cold War, hes the perfect actor for this kind of twisted,
vicious satire than knows where its going.
Jared Leto and Ethan Hawke are terrific as Orlovs hopeless
brother and a determined Interpol tracker respectively.
