Give 'em a riff and Modern live would
be great
REVIEW - THE MODERN
Water Rats
THE Modern prove modern life aint rubbish, it just
needs better tunes.
Performing last Wednesday, the Londoners rolled out catchy song
after catchy song.
But something was missing. The Moderns electro pop tracks
are crying out for a real stonker of a chorus everything
else is more or less in place for Modern-mania.
Stunning lead singer and Kylie look-alike, sound-a-like (who
once played a young Pat Butcher in East Enders), check. Two
badly 80s-styled boys on keys, check.
A drummer and guitarist that want more of the limelight, check.
The Modern have all the potential to cross over into the mainstream,
and songs Tokyo Girls, Sometimes, Industry, and Discotheque
Francais are all good, but they need a solid riff running through
their potential pop gold.
