The Adventures Of Greyfriars
Bobby
Based on the real life story of the dog who waited for 14 years
at its owners graveside, director John Henderson takes
a Lassie-like structure and loads it up with well known faces
and a little dog hero who would prefer to do less heroic things.
Not a terribly exciting canine feature but compares favourably
to the 1961 Disney movie and lovers of cute dogs wont
be disappointed.
Big Mommas House 2
Martin Lawrence returns, with a nod and a wink in his
fat suit, wig and matronly wardrobe as Big Momma.
This time, he uses the feisty persona to go deep undercover
into the home of a suspect.
Little does he know that this will land him in hot water both
literally and figuratively. Strangely funny in places, but only
when Lawrence lets us know with a sly look that hes not
too crazy about this awkward comedy either.
Chicken Little
Disney may have purchased Pixar lately but this is their attempt
to Pixar their own little story, that of a chicken who, after
being disgraced in his village by thinking an acorn is part
of the sky, tries to redeem himself until a real piece
of the sky falls.
A nice try but no cigar and even less of a plot.
Final Destination 3
An almost unheard of feat having the third of a franchise
be just as good as the original is accomplished with
this gory, fun, frightening and outright clever horror film
about a group of kids basically trying to escape destiny.
With James Wong, the original director, back on the case, this
is a beauty.
Song Of Songs
A Jewish woman looks for her brother, with whom she has had
a forbidden intimate relationship, spurred on by her dying mother.
Nathalie Press does a great job in this rather perplexing, tense
drama. |
