Seeking out Imogen
PREVIEW - IMOGEN HEAP
The Scala
LOTS of people like The OC (one of an endless stream
of American Saturday morning sappy dramas), even though it’s
full of rich-kid whiners.
And maybe Imogen Heap liked it too.
But she must have absolutely loved it after it made her an overnight
star in the United States.
From playing just one of her songs, Hide and Seek, on its last
episode, it had the youngsters flocking to iTunes in their droves,
and rocketed her single to the top of their download chart within
hours.
The Essex songbird, who had previously enjoyed minor success
with Frou Frou, and had collaborated in the past with Bjork
and Guy Sigsworth, a producer for Madonna and Britney Spears,
is now on a major tour showcasing her album Speak For Yourself.
The one-time Croydon music student is on her way to making it.
If you can’t make it (wordsmith, me) to her Scala show,
don’t worry! She will also be playing Shepherd’s Bush
Empire on March 30.
