Little Miss Sunshine
A weird and sometimes wonderful comic story of Olive, a little girl whose only dream is to win one of those strange kiddie beauty and talent pageant for children that only the USA could enjoy.
The family pile in their clapped out VW camper van for a family bonding session no relatives should go through: every member brings with them a baggage of bizarre personal quirks that make their journey a lot of fun for the viewer but hellish for those on board. From Olive’s brother Dwayne, a follower of German philosopher Neitzsche which means he has taken a vow of silence, while her Uncle Frank is an academic who specialises in Proust and is unlucky in love.
Throw in the grandfather with an unsavoury drug habit, and the stage is set for a road trip film with a difference.
