Beautiful mix of separate sounds
REVIEW: ZERO DEGREES OF SEPERATION
Roundhouse
by Sara newman
A BEAUTIFUL mixture of seductive harmonies elated audience members at the Roundhouse last weekend. London born Adem, ‘Americana’ San Francisco band, Vetiver, 70s legend, Vashti Bunyan, and deadpan Argentinean, Juana Molina, had been practising their songs together for just one week ahead of their Zero Degrees of Separation tour.
Adem’s cacophony of amplified tiny instruments (a eucalalie, various bells, recorders, strings and bizarre percussive devices) complimented Vashti Bunyan’s wispy vocals, while Juana Molina’s live recording technique magically looped and layered her keyboard, guitar and voice together to contrast joyfully with Vetiver’s slide guitar.
Quite frankly, just out of this world.
